Pen Y Fan Wind Turbine Project gears up for the big pour!

Construction of our largest wind turbine to date (1.5MW) is well underway!  Having completed the initial piling works we have moved on to construction of the 18.5m diameter hexagonal reinforced concrete turbine base.

 

 
 
 
 

This will be Sirius Renewable Energy’s 7th turbine in the fleet and will (when completed) supply discounted renewable energy (green power) to Abingdon Flooring’s on-site factory for a minimum of 15 years, helping to lower their operational costs and supporting  employment in the Caerphilly area.

Using over 80 tonnes of steel and more than 450m3 of concrete (all poured in one day!) this foundation is being built to last!

Watch out for further progress updates as we aim to build and commission the new turbine by the end of January 2017!
