Kellingley Solar Farm Planning

We were delighted to be asked to support our valued clients at First Renewable Developments with their planning application for a 5 MW solar farm at Harworth Estates Kellingley Colliery near Castleford.

The solar farm will cover an area of 11 hectares situated on agricultural land. This renewable energy development represents the potential to reduce carbon dioxide production by approximately 75,000 tonnes over the life of the project.

How we helped

Our team of planning experts were responsible for preparing the planning application which included the environmental assessments necessary to support the request for development permission. With broad experience of conducting stakeholder consultations, our work included a public exhibition event which we organised as part of the community engagement element of the project.

As with many of these solar farm developments, our clients will be utilising the site to create valuable renewable energy alongside some significant enhancements to the land’s ecological biodiversity.
