At the start of 2007 the Sirius Group was awarded an Environment Agency (EA)
Elliott Haywood, Technologies Manager at Sirius is one of three members of staff at Sirius who have been deemed competent to oversee treatment by the Environment Agency. Elliott explains: “The MTL means that we can speed up the remediation of complex sites with no compromise on safety or detrimental impact to the environment. We are licensed to use a number of remedial techniques including air sparging, bioremediation, chemical treatments and soil vapour extraction.” Speeding up remediation is only one plus point of the scheme. “The licence allows Sirius to undertake remedial activities on more than one site at a time,” says Elliott. “As the holder of an MTL, Sirius corresponds with a nominated EA account manager who will consult with EA staff in the Area office where the MTL is to operate, this makes the whole remediation process far more efficient and effective.”
