The Sirius Group working in association with The Environmental Academy is pleased to be able to offer a new range of Site Waste Management Plan courses. The Academy is  the only centre of excellence for vocational environmental awareness and management training nationally. Our training is an excellent way to gain support for environmental improvement in an organisation.

We offer a range of courses suitable to every business sector and their employees.  Bespoke courses can be delivered at clients premises in house, we also offer places on our open courses.   Our courses are nationally recognised through UK examination boards.  We offer a range of Environmental, Waste Management and Health and Safety Courses.

One of our newest courses is the ILM Accredited Site Waste Management Plan Courses.  The Environmental Academy has worked with the Institute of Leadership and Management to produce the only Nationally Accredited Site Waste Management Plan courses (with the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority). These courses offer guidance on the detail of a typical SWMP and practical advice on their implementation on site.

The Level 2 Site Waste Management Plan Awareness Course is a one day course designed to be applicable to individuals at any level who are required to have an awareness of SWMPs.  This includes Clients, Architects, Designer, Principle Contractor and Subcontractors.  Delegates will learn the reasons for and benefits of managing waste, all environmental legislation relating to waste, and practical advice for good practice on site.

The Level 3 Site Waste Management and Planning Implementation is a 3- 6 month programme including a half day advanced training session plus 5 half day mentor visits to the site.  Each learner will be provided with a free copy of our template SWMP that has been developed by us as part of a Defra funded pilot.  This SWMP has been evolving over 3 years and is designed to be as simple and user friendly as possible whilst still meeting all the requirements of the legislation.  The leaner is then required to provide evidence that they have developed and then implemented the SWMP on site, with the assistance of their mentor.

The course is very interactive and includes activities to ensure all delegates leave with the knowledge, skills and tools required to develop and implement a full SWMP.

The Academy also provide extensive Consultancy Services such as Environmental Management Systems (EMS) that are designed to achieve certification to international standards (such as ISO 14001) or to phased certification schemes such as BS 8555. Environmental Management Systems may also be integrated with quality and health and safety management systems where required.
